The Knowledge Transfer Office (GTC), integrated in the Projects and Cooperation Unit of the University of Madeira (UMa), has the mission of promoting the valorisation and transfer of knowledge generated at the University of Madeira.
Support for researchers in protecting and exploiting Research and Development (R&D) results;
Identification of the needs of the business sector and technological innovation opportunities that can be developed at UMa;
Creation and management of UMa's technological portfolio, with the University's scientific and technological offer, boosting knowledge transfer, valorisation and commercialisation processes;
Strengthening links between the University and companies, contributing to the construction of an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem that promotes the sharing of experiences and the valorisation of academic research.
The GTC is part of the GAPI Network – Industrial Property Promotion Office of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), the PATLIB network (Patent Information Network) of the European Patent Office (EPO), ensuring access to specialised intellectual property and technological information resources and services, and the TTO Network (Technology Transfer Offices) of the National Innovation Agency (ANI).
