Doctorate Degree in Insular Literatures And Cultures

This is an inter-university PHD, based on an agreement between the University of the Azores, the University of Madeira, the University of Corsica and the INALCO signed by those representing the four institutions of higher education attributing the PHD degree. In the University of Corsica, the course integrates the Doctoral School, which has a long tradition of studying the insular heritage. In INALCO, the course belongs to the Doctoral School, to which the teaching staff, with an important scientific research on the field of insular studies, also belongs.
The course does not have a curricular component. However, students must commit to a work plan proposed by the student’s thesis supervisor and approved by the PHD course’s committee, which includes activities functioning as an introduction to scientific research, such as participating in conferences and preparing scientific articles.
Students will be encouraged to work, for a minimum period of one month, in one of the other institutions of higher education which attribute the degree, according to a work plan previously accorded with their thesis supervisors.
