The cycle of studies aimed towards obtaining a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering is comprised of 6 semesters (3 academic years). Those who successfully obtain 180 ECTS are awarded the title.
The main objective of this degree is to train professionals capable of independently facing the challenges of a demanding and dynamic working market associated with this sector.
Specialists in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering are capable of the analysis, specification, design, industrialization, marketing and use of products supported by information technology. With this in mind, the degree syllabus places emphasis on practical laboratorial experience, propelling design and production capabilities, allied to a solid theoretical training in supporting scientific subjects such as mathematics and physics.
As an area in constant expansion, throughout the course students are prepared and encouraged not only to integrate into different sectors, companies and organizations but also to create their own employment, making the most of the large entrepreneurial support in this area.

Career opportunities

Graduates of this degree will be able to carry out duties related to the planning of systems or projects, in telecommunications, data networks (analogue and digital) and digital signal processing or technical duties about the implementation and maintenance of information systems. Other opportunities exist in promoting research and technological development applied to telecommunication systems and computer networks as well as carrying out duties in the area of the production and distribution of energy, as well as in robotics and computing.

Target audience

This degree is aimed at anyone seeking to develop their knowledge and critical thinking in the area of Electronics and Telecommunications. Students should be capable of keeping track of the evolution in knowledge and technology throughout their professional life.
Students may apply via the national higher education contest, providing they successfully passed both entrance examinations, as required. Candidates may also apply by transferring from other degrees/institutions or via a specific contest set out for International Students.
