Overall objectives:

Understand familiar vocabulary and expressions of current use, about you, your family and your surroundings, inserted in simple sentences;

Understand very simple authentic documents: notices, posters, signage, SMS,

Give and request information of a personal and family nature, such as answering an informative questionnaire about yourself;

Ask questions and requests, using forms of delicacy;

Give your opinion, disagree or express agreement, through very simple sentences;

Make brief descriptions (oral and written) using very simple and trained phrases, referring to your place of residence and the people who share the space with you;

Report facts of daily life (oral and written, present, past and future);

Participate in a basic conversation, if the interlocutor speaks slowly and with reformulations;

To express oneself colloquially in the various places and services of everyday life, in a very simple and slow way;

Write small simple texts, even if using isolated and trained sentences.

Pronounce the terms, even if approximately, considering some specific sounds of the Portuguese;

Present orally a subject of your interest, in a simple and trained way;

Interact with your peers in small everyday situations.

Syllabus:

ORAL COMPREHENSION - recognize commonly used words and expressions related to the context in which they are inserted, when spoken to clearly and slowly; identify topics of brief messages produced slowly; retain central thematic lines of short expository texts in audio/video format;

ORAL PRODUCTION - explain commonly used content units heard or read; adapt rhythm and intonation to different types of sentences: declarative, exclamatory, interrogative, and imperative;

INTERACTION - ask questions, formulate brief answers to oral questions, formulate/accept/refuse an invitation; request/offer/accept/refuse help; produce brief oral statements to introduce oneself/introduce others; greet/say goodbye; thank/respond to thanks; ask/accept apologies; congratulate; request permission; express incomprehension; describe objects and people;

WRITTEN COMPREHENSION (READING) - identify iconic, textual, and paratextual elements (titles, text layout, paragraphs); identify keywords and infer their meaning; extract information from context-appropriate texts (learning texts, with commonly used vocabulary); assign meanings to words and expressions based on context; recognize thematic analogies in excerpts appropriate to the specific learning context; identify the function of addition and ordering connectors; effectively use elementary dictionaries of the Portuguese language; recognize the structure of the assertive statement: constituent order patterns; copulative verbs; state verbs; attestation verbs (to present oneself, to reveal, to appear, to show...); construct diagrams from short texts; understand commonly used scientific vocabulary; identify the function of the main instructional verbs in tests and assignments (transcribe, indicate, underline, point out, highlight, mark, enumerate?);

WRITTEN PRODUCTION - writing texts appropriate to the specific learning context; planning, through writing, texts with information related to the school environment; applying basic accentuation rules; mastering the alphabet, punctuation and paragraphing; constructing sentences using newly acquired key terms; rewriting sentence sequences based on given models;

GRAMMATICAL COMPETENCE - Use and recognize: noun; determiner; article; qualifying adjective; personal pronouns (stressed and unstressed forms); interrogative pronouns; determiners and demonstrative and possessive pronouns; quantifiers; numerals; adverbs and adverbial phrases of frequent use; master fundamental aspects of verbal inflection (present, past perfect and future indicative mood) and temporal references such as frequency indicators; recognize and structure syntactic units; recognize simple sentences; understand and apply basic agreements; intentionally construct affirmative and negative sentences; recognize and use words from the following lexical fields: personal data, professions, countries/cities, family, home, physical and psychological states, health, human body, meals, city, school, services, banks, post office, public bodies, shopping, clothing and footwear;

CULTURAL COMPETENCE IN INTERACTION - integrate into your speech constitutive elements of your own culture, of different cultures present and of the culture of the language of schooling; understand, in a general way, the perspective of your culture and of Portuguese culture.

Assesssment methods and criteria:

The evaluation methodology, the program and the evaluation are developed around the communicative skills of:

COMPREHENSION (oral and written), PRODUCTION (oral and written) and INTERACTION (oral and written).

It is intended to evaluate the knowledge acquired for each of the competences mentioned, throughout the semester, through a summative and progressive evaluation. To this end, attendance and active participation in classes will be considered in the evaluation and constitute a decisive element for obtaining advantage.

The student's refusal to submit to any of the evaluative moments implies his non-approval in the UC
