The CLEPUL centre in Madeira ("From Latism to Multiculturalism") is the result of a cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, CLEPUL and the University of Madeira, signed in November 2012.
The development of research and the creation of a space for reflection in the areas of Latinity, Multiculturalism and Lusophony are the guiding principles that are at the origin of this centre. The intention is to promote research and production, in an interdisciplinary and international way, in Madeira.
Since its settlement, the island of Madeira has been a rotating platform between Portugal and the rest of the world. Thus, the staff at the CLEPUL centre in Madeira mirror the cooperaton between regions and people.
Working staff include researchers and professors from the University of Madeira and the University of Lisbon, who are responsible for the coordination of the centre, as well as researchers and doctorates from PUC-São Paulo and other European academies. Master and doctoral students are also included, as they develop the mastery of research methodologies and deepen their knowledge in their areas of specialization, by working on different projects.
