Overall objectives:

1 - Promoting experiences of various physical and sporting activities in nature in the context of active and competitive tourism, in a natural and unique involvement of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM);
2 - Understand and develop the basic skills specific to the different activities, as well as the historical and sociocultural aspects inherent in the activity in RAM;
3 - Develop skills in reading and analyzing involvement, risk management and environmental sustainability. The curricular units, Sport, Nature and Tourism I and Sport, Nature and Tourism II, have similar objectives and are coordinated with each other. At U.C. Sports, Nature and Tourism II, is intended to reinforce and deepen the development of general competences of Sports, Nature and Tourism I and tourist entertainment.

1 - Know and understand the evolution of nature activities, in the promotion of active tourism in the Autonomous Region of Madeira;
2 - Environmental ethics in the sustainability of nature activities as a product of active tourism;
3 - The importance of risk management and safety in active tourism;

Evaluation Methodology:
The contents will be addressed through theoretical, theoretical-practical and laboratory practices. Theoretical classes are predominantly expository in nature, using audiovisual material and supported by documentation. In theoretical-practical classes and laboratory practices, the contents will be addressed through practical situations, which enhance the experience of activities, aiming at the development of knowledge and basic motor skills, risk management skills and environmental sustainability. The elaboration of a portfolio on the experiences carried out will be requested, framed with the sociocultural and historical component and the involvement. Situations of debate, cooperation, analysis and critical reflection will be encouraged. The evaluation includes: a theoretical-practical frequency (20%); two group assignments (20% each); an individual critical reflection report (20%) and continuous assessment (20%). Attendance at 75% of classes is mandatory.
